Our story begins with Bannu Sahab, a master artisan in the historic lanes of Chowk Darulshifa — the living, breathing heart of Lucknow’s Chikankari world. Known far and wide for his extraordinarily delicate chikan embroidery and elegant zardozi work, he was not merely a skilled craftsman — he was a respected community leader, a keeper of ancient tradition, and a man whose name carried deep weight across the city.
In an era when handmade artistry was the very soul of fashion, Bannu Sahab built a reputation that endured across decades — one that brought beauty, honour, and pride to every garment he touched. His dedication to the craft was not just a livelihood; it was a way of life, a devotion passed through every needle and thread.

Agha Jani — The Visionary Who Built an Empire of Art
Bannu Sahab’s son, Agha Jani, inherited far more than skill — he inherited an unshakeable passion and a bold dream to carry the family’s craft far beyond local markets. With fire in his eyes and tradition in his hands, he transformed his father’s cherished legacy into a flourishing business that earned admiration and respect across all of India.
By the 1990s and early 2000s, his zari and chikan collections were sought after from Delhi to Mumbai. Traders, boutiques, and discerning fashion lovers traveled great distances just to visit his workshop. His atelier in Chowk Darulshifa became a celebrated hive of creativity, employing over 50 skilled artisans — each one trained in a craft perfected over generations of love and labour.
Though Agha Jani passed away in 2006, his spirit and influence live in every single piece we create today. He raised not only beautiful garments — he raised an entire community, and he proved to the world that traditional art could become a thriving, dignified, and deeply fulfilling livelihood.

Today, the story continues — more beautifully and boldly than ever — with his granddaughter, Nasreen.
